Mary Jane Thompson Hood, 94, of Spring, passed away May 18, 2020. She was born June 20, 1925, in Beaumont, to the late Wesley F Thompson and Mary E Garrett Thompson. Mary Jane received a degree in business administration from the University of Texas-Austin. She married Rudy Hood in 1947 and together they helped start 2 churches. She served as the GA director of the Union Baptist Association for many years and was a strong supporter of Southern Baptist missions. Mary Jane started teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) at age 68 and taught for more than 24 years. She was a Titus Mom (mentor). She was a life-long Sunday school teacher and was program director for Current Missions for 17 years. A faithful member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph (Rudy) Hood: her infant son, Terry Hood: her parents, Wesley and Mary Thompson: her sibling, Donnie Thompson.
She is survived by daughters, Suzanne Woodard and Peggy House (husband Glenn); grandchildren, Lindsey Phillips (husband Danny), Leanne Woodard, Cliff House (wife Tiffany), Aaron House (wife Emily) and Amber House; great-grandchildren, Tobin Phillips, Elliott Phillips, Isaac House, Micah House, Gemma House, Caleb House, Aria House and Malakai House; Sister-In-Law, Mary Lou Thompson; Niece—Terri Ruyle, Nephew, Wesley Thompson. Visitation: June 2, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Klein Funeral home (Champions). Memorial Service: June 3, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Champion Forest Baptist Church.
